A Couple of Gospel Legends Really Cook Up Fantastic Food!

November 4, 2014 - General -

Gospel legends Bill and Gloria Gaither have created Gaither Family Resources and the Latte Café in their hometown of Alexandria, Indiana. Originally the home of the Gaithers recording studio, the Latte Café and Family Resources has grown from the small café to the 70 seat restaurant and gift shop it is today. The extensive menu covers breakfast, lunch, dinner and a list of desserts that will satisfy any sweet temptation you may have.

A welcome into the gift shop, which at Christmas time is decorated with more than 40 Christmas trees and an uncountable number of ornaments, nativity sets, and just about anything Christmas you can imagine, makes you feel right at home as you browse your way to the dining area.

I hope you are ready to make some tough decisions as you peruse the menu. The choices are extensive and just as delicious. I recommend a bowl of Bills Tomato Basil Soup as a starter. The soup is a creamy tomato soup seasoned with the perfect blend of spices and apparently this is just the way Bill likes it!

Follow your soup with either The Gaither Trio, which is a favorite at Gaither Family Resources, or the Chicken Strip Platter.

The Gaither Trio is a wonderful mix of creamy white meat chicken salad, a Morning Gloria muffin drizzled with icing or your choice of a fresh fruit or side salad. The fresh fruit comes with the most amazing sweet caramel dip I have ever tasted. It was so delightful; I passed the dip around the table for others to try.

The Chicken Strip Platter is juicy strips of chicken with a sweet potato coating, and they really are something to rave about, served with some of the best homemade deep dish macaroni and cheese. This platter is something just like mom would have made.

The icing on the cake&.literally, is dessert. Must tries are the Vestals Coconut Cake, Glorias Red Raspberry Cake and the Mile High Chocolate Cake. All of the desserts are dazzling and are generous in portion size. Why not order a couple and share with others at your table, because you will not want to miss the opportunity to sample each one. The Gaither Resource Center has become a destination for people from all over the country, seeing visitors from more than thirty-five states and four to eight different countries each month. So come out and check out this gem in the middle of a cornfield and you will leave believing!
