Grilled Prime Rib and a Buffet, They Sure Know How to Get a Girls Attention at The Patio!

November 4, 2014 - General -

Tucked in an unassuming building off of State Road 66 in the smallest incorporated city in Indiana, The Patio Steakhouse in Historic Cannelton is a big surprise! This was my first visit to Perry County and the towns located there. The drive is amazing and the location tucked in the Hoosier National Forest and along the Ohio River the rolling hills will take your breath away. I was thrilled to find a great steakhouse thriving in the tiny city.

I arrived at opening, 11:00 a.m. and was surprised to see the place filling up in a quick fifteen minutes within opening. The buffet was freshly laid and hot inviting food was tempting us. The Patio Steakhouse has been run by the same family since the 1970s and it shows in how you are greeted and taken care of during your dining.

I started with ordering the prime rib, which they are known for. I also decided to try the buffet and also the fried Pollack. The Grilled Prime Rib is expertly seasoned and slow roasted. It arrived with the perfect rare to medium rare cook and seared on the grill. This Grilled Prime Rib was amazing tender and also was accompanied with a baked potato and vegetable. My next undertaking was the awesome buffet. The salad section was very fresh and with a multitude of toppings you can create any number of combinations, also presented were several prepared salads. I did enjoy the new discovery of a dish called Creek Fries. I had never heard of this before and was delighted to try something new. Creek Fries are potatoes, butter, onion, and bacon all baked into a cardiologists nightmare but a dream for any potato lover. I will be attempting this dish at home. I also tried several hot dishes on the buffet including Honey Mustard Chicken, Sausage, Fried Chicken and Fried Pollack. Everything I tried was fresh, well seasoned and present in an enticing manner. I did like seeing the bar being restocked with small amounts to keep everything fresh and hot.

I will definitely be coming back to Perry County and also The Patio Steakhouse on my next visit to nearby Patoka Lake and will be brining my friends also. You should make a point to stop in, you will be glad you did.
